Lomdim (learners)
Lomdim (Learners): Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah
In Israel, student-driver cars, buses and trucks are marked with a distinctive triangle and the letter “lamed,” the first letter of “lomdim.” We will be navigating and learning together and we’ll do our best to ensure a smooth ride!
Goals
Intellectual enrichment, emotional attachment and spiritual fulfillment through knowledge of and participation in Jewish life.
Understanding the why and how of ritual, whether at synagogue or at home, in private or in community.
Appreciating the breadth and depth of Jewish learning and lore, from the sublime to the absurd.
Acquiring facility with the Hebrew of liturgy and sacred literature.
Learning to share learning (through chevrutah study and presentation of divrei tefila/Torah; leading/reading in services).
Skills
Hebrew (and Torah) reading and prayer leading will be taught separately.
Frequency of sessions and content of study to be determined.
