Peter has previously spoken about US history from Jamestown in 1607 through the two terms of President George Washington. In this talk Peter will speak about our second President John Adams.
A preview of his talk:
“John Adams was a complicated man to understand. I vacillate between complete admiration for his devotion to his country, and concern that he spent less than half of the time that he was married to Abigail with her, or his children.
His cousin Sam, was the emotional energy to plant the seed of rebellion and nurture that to fruition through a tortuous path to the revolution. Adams then handed over the reins to his cousin John who provided the legal and strategic mental fortitude to get through the revolution, and establish a country.
Whether you agree with John’s decisions or not, he made them with
the best interest for the country foremost in his thoughts, even when the
decisions had a negative affect on him personally.”
