Here is a bit about Shy:

“I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University in 1953, where I met met my wife Janet. I received my army commission at the same time as I received my degree.

During the Korean War I served as a Public Information Officer, living and working in Seoul, Korea. After discharge Janet and I settled in Margate and I worked in retail and served as general manager of Garwood Mills, one of the first discount department stores in the country. When Garwood was sold I started my own business of a small chain of health and beauty aids stores.

I was then asked to do marketing for a very large tobacco and candy distributor in New York and eventually left to launch my own marketing company Shy Kramer & Associates. It became a national firm. During that time I founded and served as the publisher of the Jewish Times. I retired when I approached my 90th birthday and I now spend five months in Florida each year.

To give back to the community, I became president of congregation Beth Judah in 1979. I was later president of JFS Jewish Family Service. I am on the board of the Bay Atlantic Symphony and I’m now president of Avoda local scholarship club, which has presented $100,000 in recent years towards students pursuing higher education.”
